Bio
Catherine (Cath) Day

From the moment Cath entered the workforce as a teenager, she was acutely attuned to the power of having an effectively functioning and happy team.

After many years working in the hospitality industry, Cath was drawn to study Workplace Relations and Employment Law at the University of Canberra, immediately recognising that she had found her calling, and a desire to assist business owners to navigate the minefield of workplace relations was ignited.

Cath gained a Masters Degree in Employment Relations and has spent more than two decades working in the Federal Government Public Service and looking after the workplace relations needs of small businesses.

From working with hundreds of businesses from within the government system and connecting with private enterprises around the country, she has been able to strengthen many a business by using her knowledge of the intricacies of Workplace Relations Policies and Law and what it takes to build a successful team of employees.

Through her independent venture, Caday Workplace Relations, she is focusing on her passion for assisting small to medium-sized businesses to keep abreast of the fluid and ever-changing laws and regulations.

“It’s significant for them to get these things right, because if they don’t, they are breaking the law,” she says.

“For businesses whose trade or service is their main focal point, it can be easy for these things to fade into the background due to uncertainty around what is required or whether or not they are currently compliant.”

As a renowned workplace relations advisor, Cath is aware that one size does not fit all when it comes to implementing compliant systems and takes pride in being personally available to every one of her clients, no matter where they are located in Australia.

“It’s vital to get to know how businesses operate, what structures they have in place and to look at the holistic picture. I offer everything from one-off services to a Workplace Relations Rescue Package, which is a business audit that will highlight the strengths and weaknesses of the systems in place, as well as ongoing support to ensure business owners are keeping up with any law or regulations changes and aren’t caught unawares.”

Cath brings a true sense of empathy to her clients. As a former and current small business owner, she understands that business owners invest much more than money into their businesses and offers easy to understand advice covering the basics of the Fair Work Legislation, Award coverage, types of employment contracts and minimum employment entitlements as well as empowering and training teams to manage processes confidently.

By doing this, her clients can enjoy more time working on what they love.
